Thanks to Rafał Ostanek of Poland, I have managed to have QCN connect to HP laptops. It's still an "experimental beta test" - but if you use BOINC on your HP laptop (that has the HP 3D Hard Drive protection software installed and active), your HP laptop accelerometer should be able to be monitored by QCN. The sample rate is very low, so it will look different than other sensors (more "square wave") - but it does seem to detect triggers i.e. changes in acceleration etc.

You have to get the version appropriate for your operating system, i.e. 64-bit Windows you should connect with a 64-bit BOINC client etc. And of course you need the HP hard drive protection software installed and enabled. There is no 64-bit Windows QCNLive, but if you have a 32-bit Windows on your HP laptop, you can try QCNLive (i.e. "offline" test):

Seems to work on my HP Laptop http://qcn.stanford.edu/sensor/show_host_detail.php?hostid=16586
At least the graphic shows changed accelaration if I shake the table.

cool! yeah it's an odd implementation, it seems to be more of a signal that something happened rather than actual xyz values (although the function called is "GetRealtimeXYZ"! :-)

HP EliteBook 8460p (HostID: 19580) seems to work too!

QCN Boinc on HP EliteHP EliteBook 8730w (HostID: 19576) is working. But the latest QCNLive (6.94) says that it cannot find a sensor. Maybe because of Win 7 x64?

yeah QCNLive is 32-bits only as I haven't found a stable 64-bit Qt library to use.

Just to confirm what said by Majesty - same computer and OS: all is well
except the problem with QCN Live sensor (Hostid 20682).

Many thanks.

I just got a HP Pavillion Dv7-6c23cl Entertainment PC and QCN is up and running on it! I'm tickled! as I fully believe that this is a well worthwhile project to participated in!

Not at the moment.
Someone will have to "get into the software" on the Dell and find out the required details for accessing the sensor.

QCN detected the sensor in my HP laptop (Win8 64 bit) until three days ago. Since then it will not detect the sensor. Tried a new work unit and reset the HP 3D Driveguard with no effect. Anyone else having problems recently?

oh I think the HP laptop sensor problem is probably that I turned off the Windows 64-bit version which people seemed to have trouble with. Other sensors work with the 32-bit Windows version but apparently not the HP. I may bring back the Win64 version as I'm not sure that solved anyone's problem.

Hi,

Could you reactivate the 64 bits version, otherwise I will have to abandon the project because I don't think I'm going back to 32 bit (And I there will certainly be more and more 64 bits in the future)

Thank's
